THE WEALTH WALK
A Theatrical Walking Tour
Can you even imagine a billion dollars? It’s harder than you think.
The Wealth Walk is a hyper-local theatrical walking tour of Mount Baker and the Rainier Valley. With each step, you “accumulate” wealth, creating a visceral experience of wealth inequality. The neighborhood—and its history, ecology, and economics—becomes a microcosm and metaphor for our society more broadly.
Meanwhile, you’ll become present to your surroundings instead of running on autopilot. You’ll notice how long the trees have been there, the cracks in the sidewalk, the stark differences across an invisible boundary, and the enduring legacy of redlining. Over the course of a two-mile walk led by an actor, The Wealth Walk invites audiences to slow down and pay attention to the realities of economics, history, and ecology, and to interrogate their own relationships with wealth and property.
In 2025, The Wealth Walk was a smash hit: We extended the run twice. Critics from The South Seattle Emerald and the Seattle Times praised the work. The Seattle Times called it “The most unconventional piece of outdoor theater you’ll find this Seattle summer.” This year, we’re bringing it back again, this time with a new cast of some of Seattle’s best actors (who live right in these neighborhoods), deeper community connections to local orgs and schools, and an expanded indoor version accessible to those who aren’t up for a two-mile walk.

More Information
The Wealth Walk is a performance that takes place over the course of a two-mile walk through the Mount Baker and Rainier Valley neighborhoods. It is a loop that starts and ends in the same place. The walk has some elevation and unsteady ground. There are regular breaks throughout the experience (but not a lot of opportunities to sit down). It lasts approximately 2 hours. If this doesn’t feel accessible to you, we’d love to invite you to the Indoor Wealth Walk (more information below).
The Wealth Walk: Indoors
An indoor, non-walking version of The Wealth Walk
The indoor version of The Wealth Walk has been modified to be a seated presentation that hits all of the beats of the walking version. Sitting in community and witnessing together the rich and complicated history of these neighborhoods, as well as that history of the very room we’ll be sitting in at Mount Baker Community Club.

BRING A GROUP TO THE WEALTH WALK
Book a private performance for your school, workplace, community group, family reunion, or other gathering.
Last year, several people organized groups to see The Wealth Walk. Groups included schools, non-profit organizations, businesses, neighborhood groups, and more. The Wealth Walk is a great way to learn, be part of your city, and experience art together. We offer private performances of either the outdoor Wealth Walk, or the indoor non-walking version.
Private showings can be scheduled for a time that works well for your group (including weekday daytimes), starting on May 16th but extending throughout the summer and early fall. Each tour can host up to 30 people, but if you’d like to bring a larger group, we can do concurrent tours.
Private performances cost $1,000 with a sliding scale available (starting as low as $0). We request a 20% deposit to book your private performance
As social impact consultants, our team is always looking for ways to deepen our understanding of the city we live and work in. The Wealth Walk was engaging, informative, approachable, and embodied — it helped us think differently and deeply about our city and the forces that shaped us in the past and shape us today.”

ARTISTS DOING
FEATURING BEN HUNTER AND CHERDONNA SHINATRA, WITH KEYS WILEY
Last year, we began a new experiment with Artists Doing: Nothing, a made-in-a-day festival of performance. It was wild, it was experimental, you got to see the excellence of what can be made in just one day. And we put some solid cash in artists’ pockets.
This year, we’re doing it again, featuring some of Seattle’s most exciting artists: Musician Ben Hunter and Drag performer Cherdonna Shinatra, with DJ Keyes Wiley. You’ll hear folk music; delight in campy and queer performance art; be immersed in ritual; and dance the night away. These artists are pushing the boundaries of their disciplines, and we can’t wait to see what kind of theatre they make with us.
Once again, we’re partnering with ACTUALIZE Artists in Residence, presenting this event immersively in their new Pioneer Square gallery space. Artists Doing is a theatrical event where you see the thrilling brilliance of Seattle’s greatest artists in process, up close. These are works that we hope go on to find lives as full productions—either with The Feast or elsewhere.
